Martin Wong ·

Key takeaways

  • Audio makes or breaks video. Recorded or live, like Twitch (from 0:00).
  • Range. Up to 70 meters, over 229 feet (from 3:00).
  • Tiny. About 31 grams each; both fit in one pocket (from 3:00).
  • Built-in mic or lav. Omnidirectional condenser, or plug in a lav and hide it (from 4:00).
  • Freedom to move. Great for podcasts with a friend (from 5:00).

Audio has always been an important part of video production but it's not just recorded production, even live broadcasts like Twitch streaming can feel completely different with great audio quality.

FAQ

What is the range of the RØDE Wireless GO?

Up to 70 meters, or over 229 feet.

Can you use a lav mic with the RØDE Wireless GO?

Yes. It has a built-in omnidirectional condenser mic, and you can also plug in a lavalier mic and hide it.

Why use wireless mics instead of recording into a phone?

A lav on my phone restricts what I can do with the phone, especially during a photoshoot. Wireless lets me move freely.
